Madras Café

Unlike the other typical Bollywood cinemas there is no dance with song. Not any item song. Even there is no silly sexuality or close shot of exposing body of the actress before the camera. Yes, released on 23rd August 3013, Madras Café is a different type of Bollywood movie. This type of story can only be seen in Hollywood. In this movie Madras Café, Bengali Director Sujit Sarkar has pictured the conflict between India and Sri Lanka of 90s. Madras Café is the anatomy of a political murder. It is the prominent revolution within the last decade of Bollywood history.

Sri Lankan civil war of 90s, coming back of Indian soldiers and the story behind the assassination of late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is the main theme of Madras Café. John Abraham is the central character of the movie. He is also the producer of the movie. In the movie he is an agent of Indian Military intelligence RAW. The cinema proceeds with his secret operation. The viewers would find a new John here. John has reduced his weight for the movie. Director Sujit Sarkar says “I have told John to reduce his weight so that he cannot be marked separately from mass people. The subject of the movie is the hero, not John.”

John also acted in Vicky Donor (2012) directed by Sujit Sarkar. It was the first movie produced by John. Including top popular award, Vicky Donor was awarded in three other categories in the Indian National Cine award.

Against John, Pakistani origin American model Nargis Fakhri has acted as a European journalist. She has pictured the role spontaneously and realistically. Her dress up and accent of English has been playful and smooth.

Nargis Fakhri says that she enjoyed the role of the journalist very much. She saw many films and documentary to observe the role of a journalist, so that she could perform in the movie properly.  With the movie Rockstar (2011), against Ranbir Kapoor, Nargis started her career in Bollywood. She says though John has a strong body, his inner mind is very soft. John has been very co-operative while performing in the Madras Café.

Meanwhile some political groups of Tamil Nadu have protested against the movie before its release. They told the mass people to boycott the movie. According to their vision the movie has pictured the LTTE’s members in a negative way. The source of funding the movie is under conflict. It has been said that Mahindra Rajapaskha, President of Sri Lanka, has financed the movie secretly. But John has protested the argument strongly.

Let us see how far the Madras Café can proceed by passing away all the barer.
